Bryce Love won’t play when the No. 9 Cardinal host the Aggies on Saturday, head coach David Shaw said Tuesday.

Love rushed for 136 yards on 22 carries against the Trojans, including a 59-yard run, but the game evidently took its toll on him and several other players, Shaw indicated.

Love missed one game last season while rushing for a school-record 2,118 yards.

Redshirt junior Cameron Scarlett would seem to be the most likely replacement for Love in the starting lineup, but Shaw said, “That remains to be seen.” He said Scarlett and redshirt sophomores Trevor Speights and Dorian Maddox all will see action.

Two offensive linemen also will be out with injuries sustained in the USC game.

Starting left tackle Walker Little, like Love, probably will be back for the following Saturday’s game at Oregon, Shaw said.

Foster Sarell, part of a rotation at left guard, might miss the next three or four weeks with an injury to his right leg.

Wide receiver Connor Wedington will miss his second straight game and probably the Oregon game too, Shaw said. …

Outside linebacker Curtis Robinson, inside linebacker Jordan Perez and safety Brandon Simmons remain sidelined.

The 17-3 win over USC was the product largely of a disciplined defense

“I thought it was the best our front seven have played in a game in a couple of years,” Shaw said.
